The BIKAR Group is a leading German Metal Trader who is specializing in the worldwide distribution of non- ferrous alloys such as aluminum, copper, brass and bronze. About 200 employees at 3 locations ensure a close cooperation for the benefits of our customers around the world.
The warehouse of the parent plant alone comprises 30.000 t of non ferrous metal products. It is located in Bad Berleburg, Germany. Day by day vast amounts of metals and plastics are loaded on dozens of trucks and are sent to anywhere in the world. However, in these days high storage inventories are far not enough to perfectly meet the expectations of our customers. Being aware of this fact, it is one of Bikar’s top goals to be always technologically up-to-date.
The divisional company organization, comprising 3 facilities with a particular focus on drawn and extruded products, rolled plates and cast products, enables Bikar to respond to new requirements directly and flexibly and meet its customers’ needs in a timely and effective manner.
Round, flat, square and hexagonal bars are stored at our facility Work I. All shapes are provided in almost every kind of non-ferrous metal alloys or even plastic.
At our production facility Work II- we process rolled plates and sheets. High-tech precision circular saws which are operated by a CNC programme are used to produce cut to size plates up to a thickness of 300mm. A computer –controlled and automatic high bay racking warehouse guarantees a fast and smooth material supply. Within a few seconds, the system, controlled as it were by a ghostly hand, takes one of the 2500 trays and guides it to the work station. By means of vacuum suction cups, the operator lifts the material on the saw table and cuts the plates to the required size. It is irrelevant whether the size of a stamp or a size of 6000mm length is to be sawn. The same goes for blanks and rings. Bikar disposes of special saws which allow to cut almost any kind of on-demand dimension.
Another company highlight is to be found at our production site Work III. In this facility, we produce specific aluminum plates for tool and mould makers. A huge automatic horizontal - band saw is used to produce cut to size plates with dimensions up to 6000 mm x 2500 mm x 1000 mm. Vertical saws which are placed nearby, take the material automatically and cut it to the required width dimension.
Since 2009, the Bikar group has been manufacturing also in Eastern Germany, to be more precisely, in Korbußen near Gera. 2 up-to-date plants with a production area of 74.000m² were built to guarantee best manufacturing and storage conditions and consequently high speed delivery.
The new building in Korbußen represents the largest investment which has been made so far in the history of the BIKAR group. In 2011 the new € 20 million milling center was officially put into operation. The new production facility will not compete with our customers, as the milling machine with its giant cutter head (diameter of 2,700 mm) is specifically designed to manufacture precision machined aluminum plates. During one production cycle, the cutter head produces plates with dimensions of 5 to 150 mm thickness x 2200 mm width x 6000 mm length with an accuracy of 0.1 mm thickness tolerance.
Innovative thinking and action means for BIKAR, investing in material research. During the last years, material research has become an important impact for our company. FORMODAL ® is the branding for products made of alloys with specific properties especially designed for mold and toolmakers.
FORMODAL ® 023 is a cast aluminum alloy, based on the material EN AW 5083 (Al Mg4,5 Mn0,7). Produced by means of a special thermal homogenization method, the alloy disposes of mechanical properties which are equal to rolled plates made of EN AW-5083.
FORMODAL® is especially stress-relieved and therefore excellent for machining. Thanks to the excellent machinability and low distortion properties of the material, it is possible to increase the machining speed which leads to cost reductions during the manufacturing process.
As the roll-forming process is omitted, the plates do not have a longitudinal crystalline structure. Our plan-milled precision plates are made of this material and are market under the brand name FORMODAL ® 030- plan.
In addition, BIKAR also provides special alloys with a high-strength resistance. FORMODAL ® BM-400 or FORMODAL®060 are aluminum plates made of rolled/forged material with a high core strength and a high stress resistance.
At present we are developing a new alloy FORMODAL®020-ELOX – it is based on an anodisable aluminum alloy and will be available soon. FORMODAL®020-ELOX plates are stress - relieved, milled on both surface sides and dispose of optimized anodizing characteristics.
In order to be close to the markets and its customers, BIKAR has established a European-wide distribution network with subsidiaries in Austria, Switzerland, Slovakia, Poland and Great Britain. In Italy BIKAR is even represented with an own production facility. Located in Civitanova Marche, the team of BIKAR METALLI s.r.l. supports customers of the interesting Italian and southern European market.
BIKAR stands for quality. This means that suppliers must correspond to our severe quality management regulations before they are accepted as an A-supplier. Permanent material quality inspections are just as normal as the provision of certificate test reports. DIN EN ISO 9001 and 14001 have been implemented for many years. |
