  The surgical sutures are used to hold tissues together and join blood vessels, as well as used in different procedures according to the properties and characteristics of the thread and needle. It can be: degraded by enzymes (in case of Catgut suture of natural origin) or hydrolyzed by tissue fluids (in case of synthetic ones), those are not necessary to be removed. The degradation process causes the sutures resistance to decrease eventually.
